Round two....

As the first application for development of 125/127 is now being assessed by the Secretary of State (due the lack of decsion by Ealing Council) the developers have wasted no time in creating another new proposal. This is now available for comment on Ealing's website. Your comments will have a direct impact on Ealing council's decision. Every comment counts so please make your objection known by clicking here.

Issues not addressed

In the latest proposal the developers have done nothing to address the issues raised by so many of the local residents. 

• This is backland development in a conservation area(against government guidelines)
• It requires the demolition of a perfectly good home in a conservation area
• The density of this latest proposal is still above national guidelines (rooms per hectare)
• The houses are too close together (less than 21 metres between habitable rooms)
• The access road is single track and will introduce traffic issue along church road
• There are only 1.5 parking spaces per house, meaning more parking overspill on church road
• It will destroy the current form and character to the approach to the bunny park
• It will destroy many trees and natural habitat for local wildlife

Every objection helps so please encourage your neighbours and friends to object. 

This development will affect everyone who uses bunny park.

The Developers are coming.....

The company responsible for the development application at 123/125 Church Road will be presenting their plans at Brent Valley Golf Club on the 12th December from 7 to 9pm.[Please note date change].

You haven't heard about this because the developers don't want you to attend! 
They will use the lack of attendance to strengthen their case that there is little local objection to the scheme. 

Your attendance at the above meeting with demonstrate the strength of feeling against this development and back land development schemes in general.

Please register your objection by attending the meeting, which is pitched at a mini-exhibition informing the local people. Complete the comment sheet documenting the key issues: high density development, backlands development in a conservation area . Also it Does not meet LBE criteria for distance between habitable rooms and will result in trees being lost(the tree survey states this albeit they are saplings) etc.

This may be your last chance to influence the outcome of this planning application, so please make it count!

Again strength in numbers is the key, so please encourage any one who has an interest in preserving this area of Hanwell and the approach to Bunny Park to attend this meeting.

Say No to Garden Grabbing

A picture is worth a thousand words

Local opposition continues to grow in protest to the development plan that will attempt to squeeze 8 new houses and a new road into two rear gardens in Church Road, the approach to Bunny park in Hanwell.

Local opposition is so strong because not only does this ill conceived scheme contravene several local and national guidelines, it will also disrupt the approach to Bunny park.

The increase in traffic and demand for parking will be a constant nuisance for locals and visitors alike. Anyone who uses the bunny park will be affected by this scheme.

This is also a watershed moment for Ealing council, as many similar back gardens in the area will be under threat from developers if this scheme is allowed to proceed - in any form.

It's not too late to object

Ealing council are currently listening to the views of local people, so if you would like to see this special area preserved, click here to register your objection.

Some of the points you may want to include in your objection:

• Demolition of a period home, which is indicative of the character of the area
• Introduction of high density housing scheme, which contravenes several of Ealing council's own guidelines (re: distance between plots, size of gardens)
• Introduction of a new single track road causing congestion, access and parking issues around Bunny Park
• Loss of many trees in a conservation area and associated wildlife habitat
• Design and density of the development is out of context with surrounds 

It's the number of objections that counts, so encourage your friends and family in the local area to object to this planning application.

Say no to garden grabbing before it's too late!
If this scheme is successful it will be the first of many. Garden grabbing is seen as an issue at Government level. National guidelines have been introduced to give local councils greater powers to reject such planning applications, but that will only happen if there is significant local opposition.

Now it's time to object

Steve Pound MP and Councillor Ray Wall were amongst the many who turned out to discuss the development proposal for Hanwell Village yesterday evening. 

Over 80 people turned out to discuss this proposal

There was great support from all, including local architect Geoff Mules, who eloquently explained the reasons this planning application should be categorically refused by Ealing Council. Geoff explained that the proposal breaks many of Ealing Council's own planning guidelines including: 

• The number of habitable rooms per hectare (significantly higher than recommended)
• Distance between plots (significantly lower than recommended)
• At least some, may be all of the gardens are of insufficient size 
• Parking allows for limited manoevourablity, certainly an issue for emergency services 
• Parking is highly likely to spill out onto Church Road, which already has parking restrictions over the summer months to accommodate visitors to the Bunny Park. Traffic issues along Church road are likely result

In addition to the above, the proposal also contradicts local and national guidelines regarding conservation areas and back land development. You can read the rest of Geoff's reply below in the comments section.

There are no limitations about who can object. Anyone who uses the Bunny Park will be affected by this development. The additional of a single track road will be a danger for all that walk to Bunny Park along Church Road.
The increase in traffic and lack of parking will be a constant nuisance.
